没有人记得这一天了

也不需有人记得这一天了──

生命中有山有水，有神的爱

我的心，已超越了这些凡俗小事。

还好，没有一根白发来要挟我

还好，我昨天破败的样子没有被今天看到。

我走进一家咖啡厅

卡布其诺泛起陈年往事：

在巴音艾力草原

我暗恋过一位骑手。

这些年，我培植屈服的韧性

喂养心中的鹰。

对于过去的岁月，

我有降卑之心和不敬之罪。

现在我查看香樟树漏下的光影

我终于可以从容地迈过夏天的门槛。

Birthday Sentiments

Li Nan

No one remembers this day

and no one needs to remember this day—

life has mountains and rivers, miraculous love,

and my heart has already surpassed such ordinary matters.

Fortunately, no white hair has come to affront me.

Fortunately, my ruined looks of yesterday won’t be seen today.

I go into a coffeeshop

and a cappuccino stirs up the past:

in the Bayanbulak Grasslands

I had a secret crush on a horseman.

These past few years, I’ve cultivated the resilience to be yielding

feeding the eagle in my heart.

As for years past,

I have a humbled heart and the sin of irreverence.

Now I view the light and shadow filtering through the camphor trees

and can calmly stride at last over the threshold of summer.

中年以后

再也没有惨烈的惊涛骇浪

再也没有背叛和不忠

时光，终于可以用来回忆了。

夏花、秋霜和冰雪不再代表季节

而是你心中的悲喜。

慢慢从书厨取出一本旧书

重读。年轻时省略的愁云晦雨

现在发出一道道金属光泽。

终于可以专注地祷告了

向你的上帝陈述生命中的种种奇迹。

那些能够摧毁你的事物

你只需用两根手指轻轻弹去。

偶尔也去郊游，去千里之外看海

把心仪的朋友请进你的晚秋

在诗句中埋下阵阵马蹄声。

中年以后，你还需要和某个人

有一次通宵达旦的交谈

哪怕之后，永世不能相见。

After Middle Age

Li Nan

There aren’t any more terrifying ups and downs

there aren’t any more betrayals and infidelities

time can finally be spent on remembrance.

Summer flowers, autumn frost, snow and ice no longer represent the seasons

but rather your grief and joy.

You slowly retrieve an old book from the library

to reread. The heavy clouds and rain skipped over in youth

now gleam with rays of metallic luster.

Finally you can pray with concentration

describing to your god all the many marvels of your life.

Those things that could destroy you

you can just flick off lightly with two fingers.

Occasionally you go on an outing, traveling afar to see the sea

inviting beloved friends into your late autumn

burying the sound of pounding hooves in lines of poems.

After middle age, you still need to talk

with someone all night long

even if in the future, you’ll never meet again.
